About Ryan Nordyke
What I've been up to
For the past 8 years I have been leading design at Webconnex, an event software company with 4 products, 5 apps and a custom design system. I lead our small team including myself and our UX Developer over Design Systems. I design solutions for some of our complex and comprehensive product initiatives. These are projects that start with a blank page, and I help shape and craft the idea into workflows, interfaces, and sometimes new design patterns and components. I also help support design solutions by coming alongside our product managers on smaller projects.
Before that, I was a senior designer for 3 years at Dreamten, a design agency focused on small to medium sized startups at the 0 to 1 phase. I helped design the user experience and interface for an enterprise procurement company where the design was instrumental in its acquisition, I lead the design on an enterprise encryption SAAS product MVP, and I brought a fresh marketing presence for numerous SAAS products.
I have many more years under my belt working in ecommerce, webdesign, and even print and brand design much earlier in my career. I now focus entirely on UI/UX in the B2B SaaS space.
A bit about me personally
I'm married to the love of my life, and we have 4 amazing kids. I was born and raised in North Texas, but for the past 13 years I've lived in Northern California and then Austin, only to move back home recently. I love Jesus, I'm a fan of good bbq and top shelf whiskey, and I'm currently taking my boys through primal path.
Other fun details
I collect independent magazines, booklets and periodicals, some of my favorites being Wildsam, Offscreen, and Field & Stream. Over the past few years I've gotten into backpacking. I would still consider myself very much a novice, but I try to get out a couple times a year and challenge myself. So far I've trekked a few parks near me like Colorodo Bend, Big Bend, Pedernales, and most recently Eagle Rock Loop in Arkansas.
